Why I'm Running

The power of the people is declared in the first three words of the Constitution, “We the People …” This principle is the underlying basis for our American Democracy.

Growing up, I was taught the principles of self-sacrifice and to always “do what’s right.” In a democracy, elected officials must represent the people of their districts, not a political party or special interests. Nevada’s political leaders in Washington D.C. have gained a reputation for doing what’s “right for their political party,” and no longer what’s right for their constituents. Every day, legislation is passed helping lobbyists, but not average Americans. There are way too many Nevada politicians who’ve run for office to represent themselves and special interests, but not the voters they were elected to represent. Nevadans deserve better. We need elected officials who are not beholden to political parties, but only to the people who elected them.

Why would politicians who lose in one district, quickly move into another, just to have a more favorable chance at winning the seat? Such politicians have turned a respected electoral system into a game of musical chairs. Do they want the job or the title? Are they there for the people or for themselves?  Every year we hear the same rhetoric from both parties, parties that only care about their own interests. They select party loyalists as candidates, leaving us no other options to pick from. We Nevadans deserve real choices. My candidacy offers a new type of choice.

My plans are simple, I am running for Congress to advocate for and serve the people I represent, not a political party with its own agenda. Having been involved in civic service my entire life, I have long worked for positive change. The time has now come for us to make a difference. Let's bring fresh ideas, bold visions, new perspectives, and solid solutions to Washington. This is why I am running for Congress.
