Voting Rights

Congress must remedy the damages done to the 1965 Voting Rights Act by the Shelby County v. Holder decision. We should make it much easier for our citizens to vote, simple as that. We must work to create an environment that allows for more accessibility and greater voter participation.

When elected to Congress I will:

  • Make Election Day a national holiday.
  • Implement universal and automatic voter registration for all   citizens on their 18th birthday (with an option to opt-out available).
  • Push to create a 30-day in-person early voting period across the country. This should include evening and weekend voting opportunities.
  • Support states that promote policies aimed at expanding voter turnout.

* Implementing these policies will enable millions of more Americans to participate in our voting process, thereby, greatly strengthening our democracy!
